President of India Presents Nari Shakti Puraskar
The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, presented the Nari Shakti Puraskar at a function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan today (March 8, 2018) on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
Speaking on the occasion, the President said discriminating between men and women is essentially a problem of mindsets in society. To ensure composite development of the country, it is necessary to remove such discrimination. Every person in society is responsible for changing such mindsets. We should listen to voices of our daughters and provide them all opportunities to make the most of their lives. We should change customs and traditions that hinder giving equal rights to our daughters.
The President said that awareness and education are effective tools to overcome gender inequality. Education provides the power and understanding to eradicate distinctions between people in society.
President of India meets survivors of human trafficking and launches skills training programme for the young survivors
The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, met survivors of human trafficking on the occasion of International Women’s Day at Rashtrapati Bhavan today (March 8, 2018). He also launched a skills training programme for the young survivors, organized by an NGO, Justice, and Care.

Education Portal-ICAR(https://education.icar.gov.in)will act as a single window platform for providing vital education information/announcements/event schedules/e-learning resources from Agricultural Universities across the country to the rural youth in an easy and fast way on their doorsteps.

Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Ananthkumar announced the launch of ‘Suvidha’, the 100% Oxo-biodegradable Sanitary Napkin, under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP), here today. The affordable sanitary napkin will be available for Rs. 2.50 per pad over 3200 Janaushadhi Kendrasacross India and would ensure ‘Swachhta, Swasthya and Suvidha’for the underprivileged Women of India. This step taken by the Department of Pharmaceuticals will ensure the achievement of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of Affordable and Quality Healthcare for All, the Minister said while addressing the media.

The four-day biennial event ‘WINGS INDIA 2018 ‘, jointly organized by Ministry of Civil Aviation and Airport Authority of India and FICCI got underway in Hyderabad today. The theme of the four-day biennial event this year is ‘India-Global Aviation Hub’. Udyam Sakhi Portal Launched for Women Entrepreneurs
On the occasion of International Women’s Day today, March 8, the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises(MSME) launched a portal for women entrepreneursof India: www.udyamsakhi.org. The portal was unveiled by the Minister of State (Independent Charge) of MSME, Giriraj Singh, in a program today at the Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi. The Minister said that India has around 8 million women who have started and are running their own businesses and the Ministry of MSME believes that the women in India can play a vital role in the growth of the Indian economy.
The portal is a network for nurturing entrepreneurship and creating business models for low-cost products and services in order to empower women and make them self-reliant and self-sufficient.
The portal provides assistance through its platform for entrepreneurship learning tools, incubation facility, training programs for fundraising, providing mentors, one-on-one investor meet, provide market survey facility and technical assistance.
Dr.Arun Kumar Panda, Secretary MSME addressed the women entrepreneurs attending the program and informed them that the Ministry is on the path of creating a vibrant MSME sector by promoting growth and development of this sector including Khadi, Village and Coir industries, in cooperation with the concerned ministries and departments, state governments and other stakeholders.

Coastal Berth Scheme
The Government has extended the period of Coastal Berth Scheme beyond 12th Five Year Plan i..e from 1stApril, 2017 to 31st March, 2020. The scope of the scheme has also been enlarged to cover the cost of preparation of Detail Project Report (DPR) and capital dredging at Major Ports.
