1.The African Union bodies gives the Kwame Nkrumah Scientific Award. The Kwame Nkrumah Scientific Awards are given by African Union. The awards were launched to give out scientific awards to top African scientists for their scientific achievements and valuable discoveries and findings.

  1. Zoe Konstantopoulou, has been appointed as new parliament president of Greece country. Zoe Konstantopoulou was voted as the new Greek Parliament President. She set the record by becoming youngest Parliament President that has ever been elected in Greece.
  1. The Ivory Coast won the 2015 Africa cup of nation’s tournament by defeating Ghana 9–8 in a penalty shoot-out. It is their second Africa Cup of Nations title.

4.The Boyhood movie has been adjudged as best film at the 2015 Bafta Film Awards. Boyhood, the coming-of-age drama directed by Richard Linklater, has won the best film award at the 2015 Bafta film awards. Director Richard Linklater has been named best director.

5.The Barak 8 air and missile defence system is being jointly developed by India and Israel country. DRDO and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) are jointly developing the Barak 8 air and missile defence system. It will be used by both Israeli Navy and Indian Defence Forces.

Recently UNICEF and David Beckham football legend has launched protection fund named “7” to protect the world’s most vulnerable youngsters.The fund, named after Beckham’s lucky number on his England and Manchester United shirts. The fund will focus on children at risk of violence, abuse or disease.
  1. Gurgaon is hosting the 13th Ishara International Puppet Festival from February 3 to February 11, 2015. The aim of the festival is to entertain the people with modern and traditional form of puppet of all kinds.
  1. Mercosur is a custom union on South America. Its member countries are Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela. Its associate countries are Chile, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. Observer countries are New Zealand and Mexico. Its purpose is to promote free trade and the fluid movement of goods, people, and currency.

9.The union ministry of health launched the National Deworming Day on February 10, 2015. The initiative is aimed to protect more than 24 crore children in the ages of 1-19 years from intestinal worms.

  1. Eminent Indian Economist and Nobel laureate Amartya Sen has won the newly instituted Charleston-EFG John Maynard Keynes Prize. He was awarded in recognition of his work on welfare economics.

11.India based Ricky Kej has won the Grammy Award for his album Winds of Samsar. Bengaluru-based musician Ricky Kej has won the best new age album trophy for his album Winds of Samsara at the 57th Grammy Awards.Ricky Kej shares the award with Wouter Kellerman, a well-known flautist from Africa.

12.Mt Stromboli is an active volcano located in Tyrrhenian Sea, Italy. It is known as the “Lighthouse of the Mediterranean”.

  1.  Goa has been positioned sixth in the list of top 10 nightlife cities in the world by National Geographic.
